For an Ethical, Accessible, and Responsible Student Government
Welcome To The Campaign Website For Andre Bisasor For President of HESA
Thank you for visiting my website. I am excited for the opportunity to serve the student body. They say the call to leadership seeks those who least seek it. In my case, I had no ambitions of running for President. Having served as Vice President of HESA in 2007 - 2008, I decided not to run in the 2008 -2009 elections because I, as President of HESLS, wanted to focus on serving the student body by taking the Negotiation & Leadership Conference 2009 to the next level of success. See conference website here and it's history.
We had a very successful conference this year with over 300 students in attendance, which quadrupled the turnout of any student-run event in the entire history of the Harvard Extension School. This was similar to the record-breaking success that we had the previous year in May 2008 with over 240 students in attendance, shattering the myth that extension students will not turnout in droves because of busy lives. See Harvard University gazette media coverage here and other media/press coverage here.
However, this year has been a year where the need for good leadership has never been more evident. Many of you have encouraged me to run for President and for that I am flattered. But, my real motivation stems from a call to duty. Few people realize how demanding and challenging the job of HESA President is. That is why those we elect must be ready to meet the challenge. No other candidate has the experience and track record of success here at the Extension School that I have. No other candidate has the deep knowledge of the inner-workings of HESA that I have. I have a bold plan for ethics reform and for the development of students and the community in new and innovative ways. See my mission and plan here. If I am elected president, I will do my best to restore the functionality, transparency, accessibility, accountability and integrity to student government.
I ask for your support and vote. The voting will begin May 25 to May 29. See how to vote here.
If you think I could be the best choice for President, please consider becoming a supporter by filling out a brief form here or you could just tell us your ideas for HESA in the upcoming year. This is an opportunity for you to shape policy, because whether I win or not I will pass on the information to the next administration (hopefully that won't be necessary!)
I look forward to hearing from you and to your support!
Best Regards,
Andre Bisasor
Candidate for HESA President (2009 - 2010)
President of HESLS
Former Vice President of HESA (2007 - 2008)

******************Election Results******************
**Andre Bisasor is President of HESA 2009-2010 and Ram Dhan is Vice President of HESA 2009-2010.
It was a landslide victory with very decisive margins (about 42% of the votes in a 5-way race with the next candidate at about 23%) in an election with the highest voter turnout in its history. This next (my) administration will preside during the 100 year anniversary/celebration of the establishment of the Harvard Extension School (i.e. the Harvard Corporation voted for its formation in February of 1910 and this February 2010 marks the centennial anniversary). This makes this next year very exciting as Harvard will be acknowledging HES in a special way this year, with commemorative events including a special presentation by Harvard President Drew Faust in the Fall.
